Roxbury Shockers U10 Kickoff the Season
(Youth1)- After taking the summer off, the New Jersey Roxbury Shockers U10 girl’s soccer team started off their preseason by competing in the Roxbury Soccer Club Kickoff Classic Tournament on August 28th and 29th.

The Shockers went 1-2-1 in the competition, but Coach Greg Somjen, who is also the Roxbury Tournament director, is very confident about the team’s fall season.
Most of the girls on the Shockers have been playing together on recreation teams since they were five or six years old, and then moved up to the travel team when they were eight.
In addition to being talented, Somjen says the girls are outstanding citizens who can serve as positive role models to their peers. The Shockers’ leadership may have something to do with how close they are to their older brother team—the Roxbury Rangers U12, also coached by Somjen. Multiple players on the Shockers have older brothers on the Rangers, and the two teams have bonded quite a bit over the past couple seasons; they even have picnics and attend tournaments together.
With the regular season right around the corner, Somjen is excited to watch the Shockers give it their all in 10 league games, as well as the Columbus Day Tournament.
