Kids Can Hang With The Knighthawks At Summer Camp

Want to hang out with former National Lacrosse League MVP John Grant Jr. or four-time All-American Joe Walters? Then register for the Rochester Knighthawks Boys Summer Lacrosse Camp. This summer, youth lacrosse players can spend four days playing lacrosse with some of their favorite Rochester Knighthawks players.

The camp will be held at Brighton High School from Monday, June 28th to Thursday, July 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The full-day camp is open to players ages 7-15. The Knighthawks, in conjunction with Rochester Youth Camps, are also offering a half-day camp for children ages 5-8 that runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon over the same four-day stretch.

Knighthawks Grant and Walters will join fellow camp instructor and Nazareth College Head Coach Rob Randall. Joining Randall are former Knighthawk Bill Warder and Andrew Whipple, who is a former NLL and Major League Lacrosse player and the current head lacrosse coach at Pittsford High School. The camps will place a heavy focus on skill development through passing, shooting, ball-handling, in addition to conditioning and team-building exercises. Every day ends with a scrimmage so players can use the fundamentals they learned in game situations.

"It is something I remember growing up as a little guy when I was five or six years old. Some of the techniques I learned at that age paid off when I began playing pro and coaching in the pro ranks," said Warder, who played college ball at Hobart and served as an assistant coach with the Rochester Rattlers (MLL). "It's the fundamentals that pay off like scooping correctly, passing and catching properly. It is a simple game, but takes a lot of effort."

Rochester Youth Camps offers families discounts for returning campers and have multi-sibling, group and goalie rates. Please visit www.RochesterYouthCamps.com for information and pricing or contact Jason Cipolla at (585) 739-1612.
