Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold 14U Claim No.1 Once Again


(Youth1 Softball) – The Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold 14U (Ashburn, Virginia) squad took home the 1st place hardware over the weekend, by going 5-1 overall at the USSSA sanctioned Breast Cancer Awareness NIT in Sterling, Virginia while sporting their pink uniforms in support of fighting breast cancer, and honoring all who have faced the illness.

shooting stars goldThe squad successfully averaged seven runs per game, collectively put 42 runs across the plate, and allowed just 11 runs against them. En route to 1st place success, the girls picked up wins against Lake Shore Pride (14-2), Tri-State Thunder (4-2), Virginia Glory (8-1), Fauquier Freeze (3-1), and Manassas Blaze (9-0). The team’s only loss came in their first pool play game against the Virginia Cannons.

This marks the team’s fourth 1st place finish of the fall season. The Shooting Star’s other three tournament wins came at the Read Raider SoftballFEST (5-0), Potomac River Clash NIT (5-1), and the Heartbreakers Fall Classic (4-0-1). Their only 2nd place finish came at the BRYC Fall Classic (4-1).

To date, the Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold is currently 33-5-1 overall, have collectively put 215 runs across the plate, and have allowed just 67 runs against. The team’s next test of the season will come at the LLGSL Halloween Classic in Sterling this weekend.

The 2013 powerhouse lineup includes, Amanda Nee, Kailey Shannon, Allison Kreyer, Mackenzie Fisher, Samantha Carver, Michelle Sullivan, Emily McCarty, Mackenzie Meyer, Olivia Overton, Keira Womack, Grace Mattimore, Alexis Ballve, and kayla Castro.
